UPDATE! 02-22-05 You want an update? Historic 435.org the Official website for the 147.435 Mhz Repeater...again. There's your fucking update!
Historic 435.org Historic 435.org is was the first official website for the 147.435 Mhz Repeater in Los Angeles. This site is owned and operated (sometimes) by Juff Jurenka, KD6GDB. (Sometines) means that Jeff has a little help from his friends, especially, the Dark Forces. The site will be going through it's second renovation early in 2005 as time permits. It remains here for archive and historic purposes, but mostly because Jef continues to pay his bills. ~Dark Forces~
Gary Elmer, KG6DVO purchased the 435 Repeater from Scott Press, N6SAP on Saturday, June 7th, 2003. Here is his message to the users. From 435online.com... It's no show, this is now the KG6DVO repeater. I purchased
the repeater from Scott Press (N6SAP) on June 7th, 2003. During Scott's
ownership some major changes and improvements were made to this repeater.
The location was changed, new equipment was purchased and installed,
and troublesome operators were given the boot. Looking ahead I want you all to know that there are no plans to move the repeater from Contractor Point. It is a great location and it's affordable! Roy Tucker will continue to conduct his world renowned nets and all the control operators and technical committee members are still onboard. I am going to ease up on some of the restrictions previously imposed on the user group such as the repeater being turned off at midnight. I am also allowing all the users that were banned to come back. In doing so I hope the group will help me out by encouraging anyone getting out of control to tone it down a notch or two. Complaints to the FCC about operations out here will be the death of this machine. We all need to work together to keep that from happening. Have Fun! Gary Elmer - KG6DVO
On July 25, 2002 after eighteen months of continued pressure from the FCC, the 147.435Mhz repeater officially changed hands. The former owner and trustee Roy T. Tucker, N6TK sold the repeater to Scott Press, N6SAP. No one really knows weather is was the pressure from the FCC that induced Roy to finally give up the reigns. Perhaps the pressure from Roy's beloved wife Kathy, AA6TK was more influential. Or maybe it was just the daily phone call from Scott begging him to sell it. Since then, there have been numerous enforcement actions taken against hams on 435. Scott has embarked on a vigilant campaign to clean up the repeater operation. To help aid in the cleanup process it was decided that the repeater would become private. Prospective users are encouraged to join the "Mighty Wonderful Repeater Club" W6NUT. In December of 2002, the repeater site at Saddle Peak was decommissioned, rendering 435 homeless. SAP took quick action and secured a site at Contract Point, located in the North San Fernando Valley. The repeater moved on New Years Day and was down for less then twenty-four hours, thanks to the time and generosity of the many who helped during the transition. Another improvement to the repeater has been the addition of Echolink. This has brought many users who have moved out of the area back to 435. If you are a licensed ham you can find out the details on how to get Echolink set up here. 435 Live Audio is back. Dennis, Robin, and Jeff are currently supplying the feeds. Jeff has been compiling analog and digital recordings of 435 for years. His work is ongoing but many of these recordings can be found at W6DEK.COM. Cant be heard on the repeater? Maybe you're out of the area? Post your own comments on the 435.org Dreambook. Have any comments or suggestions about the site? Keep 'em to yourself. We don't give a shit! One Additional Note: The owner of the site, KD6GDB has issued a mandate to the webmaster(s) that the picture below remains on this site until he is served papers ordering it's removal.
